Andrew Mitchell threw a gem on Friday for Trojans, allowing zero runs and besting Del Valle Cardinals Varsity by a score of 2-0

The pitching was strong on both sides. Mitchell struck out 14, while Gilbert Zamorano sat down six.

Trojans got things started in the first inning. Jake Rugeley’s sac fly scored one run for Trojans. One bright spot for Del Valle Cardinals Varsity was a double by Isaiah Salas in the sixth inning.

Mitchell (ERA 2.0) earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Trojans. He went seven innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out 14.

Zamorano started the game for Del Valle Cardinals Varsity. He surrendered two runs on one hit over six innings, striking out six.

Carter Raney led Trojans with one hit in three at bats. Trojans was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.

Salas went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Del Valle Cardinals Varsity in hits.

First half of district play has finished. Second round starts with Trojans hosting Manor, next Tuesday, April 10th, 5 pm, at Northwest Park’s PONY field.
