Trojans wins contest against Akins Eagles Varsity, 6-3. The Easter/Passover weekend match up was a redo of Tuesday’s game, which was cancelled after 2.5 innings due to the heavy rain moving through the Austin area.
Peyton Zachry (2.00 ERA, .571 WHIP) pitched Trojans to victory. He went seven innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out nine batters and walking only one.
Nico Romero got the start for Akins Eagles Varsity. He allowed six hits and six runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Kevin Garcia threw one and one-third innings in relief.
Akins Eagles Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. Zachry’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Akins Eagles Varsity.
Trojans took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Trevor Marek doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and an error scored one run for Trojans.
In the sixth inning, Anderson notched three runs. Trojans offense in that inning was led by Drew Blankenship, Jake Rugeley, and Andrew Mitchell, all driving in runs in the inning.
Mitchell went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Trojans in hits.
