The Anderson Trojans participated in three Summer 7 on 7 events that included league play hosted by Cedar Park and two State Qualifying Tournaments, one hosted by Belton and the other by Westlake.
The Trojans started off the summer with the Belton Tournament and lost three competitive games to Belton, Hendrickson, and Elgin. The Trojans then turned their heads towards the Cedar Park Summer League and opened up their first 3 games with victories over the Leander Lions, Rouse Raiders, and Vista Ridge Rangers. The Trojans carried confidence into week 2 and after a narrow loss to the Vandegrift Vipers, rebounded to victories over Vista Ridge and defending 5A State Champion Cedar Park Timberwolves.
Before week 3 of Summer League, the Trojans headed to Westlake for another State Qualifying Tournament. The Trojans edged out the Del Rio Rams after a late game 2 point conversion and goal line stand to conclude the game. The victory over Del Rio was followed by a tough loss to Westlake and a narrow loss to Copperas Cove. The Trojans ended 7 on 7 play with week 3 of the Cedar Park Summer League. They defeated Rouse and Vandegrift before dropping the last game to Vista Ridge. The win over Vandegrift meant that the Trojans had defeated every team in the Cedar Park Summer League at least once and finished with a record of 7-2.
They will look to carry momentum into fall practice which starts Monday, August 8th. —Lucas Vargas, Student Reporter
