Rouse High School
L C Anderson High School
ROUND ROCK HIGH SCHOOL—- The Anderson Trojans defeat the Rouse Raiders 53-48 to open up the playoffs.
Playing at Round Rock, where the Trojans opened up the regular season, Anderson leaned on the tough defense that got them to the playoffs. The Trojans started off slowly on offense but finshed the first quarter with a 12-9 lead. The Trojans continued their stifling defense in the second quarter and spread around the scoring to take a 24-15 lead into the locker room. The second half featured much more active offense. Rouse’s 6′ 9″ center, Austin Meyer, and Trojans guard, James Wright, traded baskets. Meyer scored 8 of his 17 and Wright scored 8 of his 11 in the third quarter. The Trojans led 39-32 to start the fourth but the game was far from over. Rouse would cut the lead to 1 point but the Trojan defense held strong and Andrew Foster made clutch free throws. Foster finished with a team high 15 points including 9-10 from the free throw line in the second half.
The win marks the second year in a row that the Trojans win their Bi-District game. They will now face Atascocita for the second straight year in the Area round. The game will tip off at 6:00pm on Friday at Bryan High School. Lucas Vargas – Student Reporter
