L C Anderson High School
HAYS HIGH SCHOOL—- The Anderson Trojans used a hot first half to hold off the Hays Rebels for 62-53 win on the road.
The Trojans came out firing, knocking down four 3’s in the first quarter including two from Eric Conner. Stingy defense held Hays to 5 first quarter points including only one field goal. The Trojans continued to flex their muscles on the offensive end in the second quarter. Grayson Dipple nailed his second 3 of the game and Jack Roberts added a 3 of his own to beat the buzzer before halftime. Eight Trojans contributed points to a 37-17 lead at halftime. The Rebels would not let the Trojans coast to the finish. Hays outscored Anderson 17-11 in the third and 19-14 in the fourth quarter. The Trojans early lead proved too much to overcome though, and resulted in a 62-53 victory. Eric Conner led the Trojans with 29 points. Grayson Dipple and Taylor Deffebrio each pitched in 6 points.
With the road win, the Trojans climb to 6-4 in district play. They will take on the Lake Travis Cavaliers at home on Tuesday.
