00Please review the Unexcused Absence policy here
Unexcused Absence = an absence of the nature of #1 or #2 (below) that was not communicated prior to the start of practice. In order to ensure that our players and staff are on the same page when dealing with unexcused absences, we have designed an outline for the players to follow. The discipline that follows is set in place to guarantee that our student athletes understand and abide to commitment to excellence, accountability towards teammates and responsibility for one’s actions. The discipline format is set up in a way where the athlete has the ability to make up for his/her actions through post-practice requirements, meeting with Coach Rhoads, suspension from practices/games and ultimately removal from team and program. An unexcused absence is defined by the player missing practice or team function without prior contact to Coach Rhoads or their specific position coach. Accepted reasoning:
- Family life or death situation
- Personal illness
1st Unexcused Absence– Player will have a 1 practice suspension. Student must be present and will suit up without their helmet. Student will run for 1st unexcused absence.
2nd Unexcused Absence– Player will have a 1 practice suspension. Student must be present and suit up without their helmet. Student will run for the 1st unexcused absence. Student will also have a required meeting with Coach Rhoads.
3rd Unexcused Absence– Player will have a 2 practice/ 1 game suspension. Student must be present and suit up without their helmet. Student will run for unexcused absence(s). Student will have a meeting with Coach Rhoads notifying the parents of player’s status within the program.
4th Unexcused Absence– Player will suspended for remainder of calendar year, or until the end of the season. Student will have a meeting with Coach Rhoads/communication with parents. Player will be removed from the football program until the end of the calendar year or until off season begins.
